Community S O L A R
Community solar can provide significant environmental, social and economic benefits by enabling local communities to participate directly in the generation and use of renewable energy.
A community solar installation can reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lower carbon emissions and contribute to local and national renewable energy targets, while also helping to reduce long-term energy costs for landlords whilst creating a regular income for the community group.
It can also provide opportunities for local skills development, employment and engagement with the transition to a low-carbon economy. Importantly, community solar allows people and organisations who may not have suitable roofs or land for their own solar installation to benefit from locally generated renewable energy, strengthening community resilience and increasing public awareness and participation in the transition to net zero.
Crawfurd Street Community Solar
We have been issued with a Certificate of Lawful Proposed Development for our proposed Community Solar Project at Crawfurd Street and are being supported by Community Energy Scotland and their mentoring programme to make a development application to CARES at Local Energy Scotland. This installation will not only make the various businesses in these units Zero Carbon, it will also generate an annual revenue from electricity export for Creative Regeneration over the next 25 years, helping to sustain our organisation and the work we do.
